Alumni

The PPG-AVCT develops, with the assistance of PRPG/USP, the Alumni USP Program, and the Program's own management, an “Alumni Monitoring Project”.

The PPG-AVCT carries out systematic monitoring of its alumni through its own project, with support from PRPG/USP and Alumni USP. This project allows mapping the professional and academic insertion of graduates. Alumni USP, created in 2018, already brings together 137,000 alumni, 61,649 of whom are from graduate studies — 90% in Brazil and 10% in 40 countries.

The PPG-AVCT monitors its alumni using the USP Janus System. The data is organized for analysis and supplemented by manual searches in databases such as Alumni USP, Lattes, ResearchGate, Escavador, and social networks. Information collected includes: name, year of defense, activity in public or private institutions, leadership, social and educational projects, links with ST&I, service provision, residence abroad, and death.

This approach allows for the gathering of data on the location of alumni, links to public and private bodies, activities in the educational system and in Science, Technology, and Innovation (ST&I) projects, as well as leadership positions and service development.

In addition to these data, the current professional activities of alumni are monitored, such as participation as leaders or members of research groups, registered or not in CNPq; the current professional status of graduates; insertion in different Graduate Programs in Brazil and abroad; performance in PPGs with positive evolution in evaluations; participation in Cooperation Programs between Graduate Courses and Programs; and performance as permanent faculty, supervisors, and coordinators of graduate programs in the country.

To improve the relationship with its alumni, the PPG-AVCT promotes, every ten years, the “Alumni Meeting”, an event that allows for the sharing of experiences and updates on their professional trajectories. In 2019, 98 alumni from 14 Brazilian states, in addition to representatives from Peru and Colombia, gathered at a meeting that also offered a special course on the Plastination Technique. The next meeting is scheduled for 2029.
